MEXC review
Top pick CryptoThe lowest-fee major exchange with the widest altcoin selection - the trade-off is lighter regulation.
Cost-conscious traders and altcoin hunters who want 0% maker fees and thousands of listed tokens.
Anyone who needs a tier-one licence or native bank rails, or who lives in the US, UK or Canada.
Fees, explained
The real cost of a trade is the spread plus any commission, plus funding and withdrawal fees, not just the headline number. We separately measure the real average from a funded account at live session times; a figure marked "testing in progress" is one we have not finished measuring ourselves.
Fees and charges (MEXC published policy)
- Deposit & withdrawal fees
- Crypto deposits are free. Fiat deposits run through third-party providers and typically cost 3-5%. Crypto withdrawal fees vary by network.
- Inactivity / dormant fee
- MEXC does not publish a dormant-account fee that we could verify; treat this as unconfirmed and tell readers to check current terms rather than stating a number.
- Trading cost
- MEXC shows spot fees of 0% maker and up to 0.05% taker (0.05% on BTC/USDT, or 0.04% with its 20% MX discount). Futures fees are shown as a range by contract: 0.000% to 0.040% maker and 0.000% to 0.100% taker. These are the rates on MEXC's fee page as of 2026-10-11, not measured by us.

Regulation & safety
MEXC operates under 2 regulatory licences: Lightly regulated (offshore); no tier-one licence, Restricted in US / UK / Canada. Regulation is not a guarantee against loss - leverage and volatility do the damage - but it tells you who you can complain to and how client funds are meant to be handled. Always trade with the entity that actually onboards your country.
Opening an account
- Register with your email and verify it.
- Complete identity verification (KYC) - a government ID and proof of address.
- Fund the account using P2P, Card (3rd-party), USDT, Crypto transfer.
- Start on a demo. Size positions small. Keep a trading journal from day one.
The honest cons
- Lighter regulation and no tier-one licence - do your own due diligence
- Not available to US, UK or Canada residents
- Fiat on-ramps rely on third parties and can carry 3-5% fees
- Crypto is highly volatile - capital at real risk
What we like
- 0% spot maker fees and 0.05% taker, among the lowest anywhere
- Thousands of listed tokens, the widest altcoin selection of the majors
- No minimum to open and fast listings of new coins
MEXC fees, and why the headline is real
MEXC publishes 0% maker and 0.05% taker on spot, against a 0.1% standard tier at Binance, OKX and Bybit. On futures it shows a range that depends on the contract: 0.000% to 0.040% maker and 0.000% to 0.100% taker on its fee page as of 11 October 2026. Unlike most "lowest fee" claims this one does not depend on holding a venue token or hitting a volume tier, which is what makes it worth taking seriously.
| Venue | Spot maker | Spot taker | $1,000 round trip | Cost over 240 trades/yr |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MEXC | 0.00% | 0.05% | $1.00 | $240 |
| Binance | 0.10% | 0.10% | $2.00 | $480 |
| OKX | 0.08% | 0.10% | $2.00 | $480 |
| Bybit | 0.10% | 0.10% | $2.00 | $480 |
For an active trader that is a real, permanent difference taken with no additional risk. Work it out for your own volume on the crypto fee calculator.
What you give up for it
This is the part a fee comparison alone will never tell you, and it is the reason we do not simply call MEXC the best exchange.
- No tier-one licence. MEXC is lightly regulated offshore. There is no FCA, no MiCA, no equivalent of the protections those bring. If something goes wrong, there is no regulator to appeal to.
- Restricted in the US, UK and Canada. Verify before you fund, not after. Accounts are most often frozen at the withdrawal step, which is the worst possible moment to discover a jurisdiction problem.
- Fiat through third parties at 3 to 5%. The cheap trading fee does not extend to getting money in. For small deposits that spread can wipe out a year of fee savings in a single transaction.
- Listing standards are loose. Over 3,000 tokens is a feature if you want early access and a hazard if you cannot tell a thin market from a real one. See liquidity.
The honest way to use it
MEXC makes sense as a trading venue for someone who already holds stablecoins, understands that custody is a risk they are choosing to take, and trades often enough for 0.05% versus 0.1% to matter. It makes much less sense as the place you convert your salary into crypto for the first time, because the fiat route is where the cost actually lives.
Whatever you decide, do not keep long-term holdings on any exchange. Trade on a venue, store elsewhere. See custodial versus non-custodial wallets for why that distinction is legal rather than philosophical.
Fees we have not yet verified ourselves
Spot spread and withdrawal timings on MEXC are marked testing in progress on this site. We publish measured figures only after we have measured them from a funded account, and we would rather show a gap than fill it with a number copied from a marketing page. Until then, treat the fee schedule above as published policy rather than first-hand data.
