MEXC vs OKX: price against protection

MEXC costs less on every spot trade. OKX holds a licence. Decide which of those you are actually buying.

The short answer

MEXC is meaningfully cheaper on spot and lists far more tokens. OKX is licensed by VARA in Dubai and registered in multiple markets, has deeper books on majors, and is the only one of the two where we have measured the spread ourselves.

What it actually costs

A $1,000 taker round trip costs $1 at MEXC and $2 at OKX. The gap is real for an active trader, and it is smaller than a single 4% fiat conversion, which is where MEXC gets expensive.

Published rates are only part of the bill. The spread is paid on both sides and never advertised, and the withdrawal fee is flat per transaction, which punishes small amounts hardest. Run your own volume through the fee calculator before deciding that a difference matters.

Our recommendation

MEXC if you already hold stablecoins and trade actively. OKX if fiat enters here, or if you want a licensed venue on the record.

How we compare venues

Fee rates come from each venue's own published fee page, checked on 16 September 2026. Anything marked we measured was timed or read by us from a funded account, with the session and date recorded. Where we have not measured something ourselves it stays marked testing in progress rather than being filled in with a number copied from a marketing page. Referral links appear on this page and are disclosed on every page; the order of these verdicts is decided before any commission is considered. See our method and disclosure.

Frequently asked

Which is cheaper, MEXC or OKX?

A $1,000 taker round trip costs $1 at MEXC and $2 at OKX. The gap is real for an active trader, and it is smaller than a single 4% fiat conversion, which is where MEXC gets expensive.

Which is safer, MEXC or OKX?

MEXC: Lightly regulated (offshore); no tier-one licence, Restricted in US / UK / Canada. OKX: VARA (Dubai), Registered/licensed in multiple markets. A licence does not guarantee good execution, but it does buy recourse: rules about where client money sits, a body that can fine the firm, and in some jurisdictions a compensation scheme. Check which entity actually onboards you rather than the licence in the website footer.

Can I use both MEXC and OKX?

Yes, and many active traders do, usually for different jobs: one venue for fiat in and out, another for cheap execution. The cost is operational rather than financial, since capital split across venues is capital you cannot deploy in one place, and every extra account is another place your identity documents live.

Do these fees include everything?

No. Published maker and taker rates exclude the spread, which you pay on both sides and which is never published, and withdrawal fees, which are flat per transaction and set per network. On small positions the withdrawal fee often exceeds the trading fee entirely.

Are these numbers verified?

Fee rates come from each venue published fee page, checked 16 September 2026. Spreads and withdrawal times marked "we measured" were timed by us from funded accounts; anything else is marked testing in progress rather than estimated. We do not publish numbers we have not checked.
